Obergurgl

The area itself is not that big, just 110km of pistes but if offers quality over quantity. The majority of the pistes are blue or red runs, with a smattering of blacks to keep the advanced skier amused.

The skiing links well to the neighbouring Hochgurgl which provides even more high altitude fun and Solden is also close by and easily accessed by the efficient local bus service (at a small charge).

Obergurgl has a reputation of offering somewhat muted options for après. Whilst this is true to an extent, there are enough options to keep most groups amused. There are some traditional Austrian on-hill après spots such as the Nederhuette which is just down from the top of the Hohe Mut Bahn. In the resort itself, the two main favourites are the Josi-Keller which has a nightclub too or the Fassi Bar which serves the normal fare as well as a selection of flavoured Schnapps.
