Obertauern

The skiing in Obertauern is fantastic, the slopes tend to best suit beginners and intermediates. The skiing is made up of several lifts around the bowl directly above the resort.

The best way to explore the skiing. as a near beginner is to take the marked “green circuit” which tackles the bowl in a anti-clockwise direction. Alternatively  the “pink circuit” which is the clockwise circuit encompasses a range of blue and red runs totalling over 30km of pistes.

For experts, there are a selection of black runs but real challenge lays in the powder bowl skiing which can be fantastic under the right conditions.

Whilst Obertauern could never be compared to it’s compatriots such as Ischgl and St. Anton, the resort does offer some great apres venues. A lot of these are cafes immediately at the bottom of the lifts or the hotel bars themselves.
